Supreme Court of India Law Clerk Recruitment 2026: Number of Vacancies

  • A panel of approximately 90 candidates will be prepared.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must satisfy one of the following:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (3-year or 5-year course) from an institution recognized by the Bar Council of India, or

Students currently in:

5th year of a 5-year integrated law course, or
3rd year of a 3-year law course,
  • provided they complete their law degree before joining.

Candidates should possess:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Excellent legal writing ability
  • Working knowledge of legal databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and e-SCR

Supreme Court of India Law Clerk Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of three stages:

Part I – Objective Test

  • Mode: Online (MCQ-based)
  • Tests comprehension, legal reasoning, and application of law
  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer

Part II – Descriptive Written Examination

  • Questions displayed on computer screen
  • Answers written in pen-and-paper mode
  • Assesses analytical ability, articulation, and legal writing skills

Part III – Interview

  • Candidates shortlisted after Part I and Part II are called for interview
  • Final selection based on combined merit
