The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially postponed the SSC GD Constable 2026 Examination. Candidates who were scheduled to appear for the Computer Based Examination (CBE) from 23 February 2026 onwards must take note of this important update.
According to the latest notification issued on 17 February 2026, the examination has been deferred until further notice. Here are the complete details regarding the SSC GD 2026 postponement, city intimation, and admit card release.

The examination was initially scheduled as per the Commission’s earlier notice dated 02 January 2026. However, SSC has now decided to defer the Computer Based Examination. Fresh dates will be announced separately on the official SSC website.

SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026: Vacancy Details
The SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026 offers a total of 25,487 vacancies across multiple Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Out of the total posts, 23,467 vacancies are reserved for male candidates, while 2,020 posts are available for female candidates.

SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Nationality / Citizenship
- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- Candidates must also provide a valid Domicile Certificate / Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of the state or union territory they select in the application form.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) from a recognized board.
- The educational qualification must be completed on or before 01 January 2026.
Candidates who have not passed 10th before this date are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit
- The age of the candidate must be between 18 to 23 years as on 01 January 2026.
- Eligible date of birth range: 02 January 2003 to 01 January 2008

SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026: Incentive to NCC Certificate Holders
Candidates holding valid NCC certificates are eligible for additional bonus marks:

SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026: Selection Process
The recruitment process for SSC GD Constable 2026 consists of multiple stages, including a written examination, physical tests, medical evaluation, and document verification. Candidates must qualify each stage to move ahead in the recruitment process.
Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

- This is the first stage of the selection process.
- Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer applies.
- The exam will be conducted in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages.
Candidates scoring the minimum qualifying marks will be shortlisted for the next stage.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who qualify for the written exam will appear for the Physical Efficiency Test.

Medical Examination (DME/RME)
Candidates who clear PET/PST will undergo a detailed medical examination to ensure fitness standards as per CAPF rules. This includes:
- Vision test
- Hearing ability
- General physical fitness
- Verification of physical defects/disabilities
Candidates found unfit may apply for Review Medical Examination (RME).
Document Verification (DV)
During DV, candidates must submit:
- Matriculation Certificate
- Domicile Certificate
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- NCC Certificate (if claiming bonus marks)
- Identity Proof
Failure to produce valid documents will result in cancellation of candidature.
Final Merit List & Force Allocation
Final selection will be based on:
- Normalized marks of CBE
- Bonus marks for NCC (if applicable)
- State-wise & category-wise vacancy availability
- Candidate’s force preference
No waiting list will be prepared after final selection.
