This prestigious award recognizes PM Modi’s significant contributions to strengthening bilateral relations, promoting international peace, and enhancing strategic cooperation between India and Cyprus.

The honour was bestowed upon Prime Minister Modi by President Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus, who hailed PM Modi’s global leadership and his efforts in promoting democratic values, sustainable development, and global partnerships.
A Historic Diplomatic Gesture
The Grand Collar of the Order of Makarios III is named after the first President and Archbishop of Cyprus, Makarios III. It is awarded to prominent leaders and distinguished personalities for their outstanding service to the country and humanity. PM Modi joins a select list of global leaders who have received this top recognition.
The ceremonial event took place at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, where the two leaders also held high-level discussions on expanding economic cooperation, digital innovation, and people-to-people ties. Both sides expressed commitment to deepening cooperation in sectors such as tourism, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy.
