CBSE Results 2025: Student Performance

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the much-awaited Class 10 and 12 results for 2025, bringing relief and joy to over 38 lakh students nationwide. The results, available on cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in, reflect several emerging trends in academic performance, regional excellence, and the continued success of digital education initiatives.

Overall Performance: A Positive Shift

Class 10 Highlights:

  • Total Students Appeared: Over 21 lakh
  • Pass Percentage: 93.12%
  • Girls' Pass Rate: 94.75%
  • Boys' Pass Rate: 91.56%

Class 12 Highlights:

  • Total Students Appeared: Around 17 lakh
  • Pass Percentage: 88.46%
  • Girls' Pass Rate: 90.68%
  • Boys' Pass Rate: 86.27%

The overall improvement in pass percentages suggests better academic preparation, access to online resources, and enhanced support from schools and teachers.

Top Performing Regions

Region-wise results once again placed Trivandrum, Bengaluru, and Chennai at the top. These regions consistently maintain high standards in CBSE examinations, thanks to well-structured school systems, experienced faculty, and focused students.

Top 3 Regions by Pass Percentage (Class 12):

  1. Trivandrum – 97.8%
  2. Bengaluru – 96.5%
  3. Chennai – 95.9%

Digital Learning Impact

The impact of hybrid and digital learning models was clearly seen in this year’s results. Many students utilized online platforms, apps, and YouTube lectures to prepare for exams. This shift has made quality education accessible, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

CBSE's initiatives like Sample Papers, Competency-Based Questions, and the Pariksha Sangam portal played a crucial role in guiding students through a structured learning process.

Subject-Wise Trends

  • Science Stream: Subjects like Physics and Chemistry saw a rise in average scores, while Mathematics remained moderately challenging.
  • Commerce Stream: Accountancy and Business Studies showed a better score distribution compared to 2024.
  • Humanities Stream: Subjects like History, Political Science, and Sociology continued to be high-scoring for many.

Additionally, there was a growing trend of students scoring well in Information Technology, indicating the popularity of vocational and tech-based subjects.

Girls Continue to Outperform Boys

Girls outshone boys in both Class 10 and Class 12 results. This consistent trend highlights increasing female participation in education and academic excellence across India. Schools and communities are also playing a greater role in encouraging girl education.
